Elevating the Patient Experience in Ocular Surface Disease: Eyelid Margin Disease, Neurosensory Disorders, and Inflammation

Activity Description

This course provides an essential update on the advanced diagnosis and comprehensive management of Ocular Surface Disease (OSD) for cataract and refractive surgeons. The session will cover the prevalence and advanced diagnosis of today’s OSD patient, equipping attendees with tools to identify complex presentations. We will explore the critical concept of the first refractive surface: why a healthy ocular surface is critical for cataract and refractive surgeons, demonstrating its direct impact on preoperative measurements and surgical outcomes. Faculty will then detail modern therapeutic approaches for OSD, spanning a spectrum from MGD and inflammation to emerging neurosensory disorders. Finally, the course will focus on practical communication strategies, teaching attendees how to effectively manage and communicate expectations with the ocular surface patient to ensure successful treatment pathways and high levels of patient satisfaction.
