Emerging Interventions for Geographic Atrophy

Activity Description

This course provides a crucial update on the current clinical imperative to diagnose and intervene earlier in dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and Geographic Atrophy (GA). The session will begin by equipping attendees to identify key risk factors, biomarkers, and screening protocols used to diagnose these conditions, and interpret real-world evidence to support timely intervention and preserve vision.

We will then move into practical application, focusing on how to apply multimodal diagnostic and imaging strategies, including emerging AI applications, to monitor disease progression and identify patients at greatest risk for rapid progression to GA. Finally, the course will evaluate the clinical impact of GA on functional and anatomical outcomes, review patient communication strategies to improve compliance, and summarize the current and emerging pharmacologic therapies (including their mechanisms of action and safety/efficacy data) to help clinicians develop appropriate, real-world treatment protocols
